Welcome to the website of the Melanoma Program of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI). On this website, you will find information pertaining to the basic research and clinical investigations conducted by the members of the UPCI Melanoma Program, the facilities of the UPCI Melanoma Center, links to other melanoma resources, and our contact information.
The focus of the Melanoma Center is to implement novel treatments for melanoma patients with advanced disease, and to gain essential new insights into crucial molecular events governing the biology and progression of melanoma.
The members of the UPCI Melanoma Program have expertise in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, and translational studies. Specifically, the members of the UPCI Melanoma Program pursue studies that provide new insights into genes and proteins playing a key role in melanoma progression, and the application and analysis of novel immunotherapies, and small molecule–based therapies for patients with high–risk and advanced melanoma.
